Originated more than 3000 years ago, Ayurveda is a form of healing sciences. In Sanskrit, it is referred to as "The science of life" as it believes to heal and provide natural treatments. Positively approved by our national medical health association, it holds a top rank in the present medical workspace. I base this form of traditional healing on the principle that health and wellness depend on the graceful balance of your mind, body, and spirit. Often known as the "Mother of all healing" its chief aim is to promote healthy wellbeing and lifestyle and even rely on the saying "Prevention is better than cure". However, with the advent of technology and research, Ayurveda is now proven to offer successful and effective treatments against major health issues. Today, Patanjali is the biggest organization in India that provides Ayurvedic treatment and is headed by Baba Ramdev and Acharya Bal Krishna.

 

WHAT IS ALLOPATHY?

 

The modern or the mainstream form of treatment using allopathic medicine is known as allopathy. Some other names which are commonly used in the medical industry today are:

Mainstream medicine

western medicine

biomedicine

orthodox medicine

conventional medicine,

 

This form of treatment involves a health system with medical doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals. All these workers are licensed to practice surgeries, operations, treatments, etc.

THE BABA RAMDEV CONTROVERSY  

Recently, Baba Ramdev has been in talks everywhere. From Facebook to the flooded controversial comments and retweets on Twitter. It all started when Baba Ramdev accused allopathy treatments and workers by saying “Allopathy is an irrelevant and deadly form of science”. He also added that lakhs and lakhs of people have died because of allopathic medicines and control. He alleged that thousands of covid survivors have died because of allopathic oxygen treatment and added that their natural cylinders- lungs would have performed better. The controversial statement reached out to several health workers treating covid patients and working day-night shifts. They expressed their concern regarding the controversy saying that the statement was highly upsetting and affected thousands of medical professionals working in covid wards protecting the nation.

 

AYURVEDA AND ALLOPATHY GO HAND-IN-HAND

Ayurveda and allopathy both play a primary role in medical associations today. Ayurveda is believed to cure and prevent serious forms of illnesses through yoga and natural remedies. These medicines are natural and free from any form of harsh chemicals. With no side effects, yoga has been proved as the most efficient form of wellness that provides balance in the body. Ayurveda provides long-term health benefits against diabetes, chronic depression, anxiety, mental disorders, etc. However, it is wrong to deny the fact that allopathy works adequately on emergency medical conditions and is helpful in surgical treatments too. The majority of our population sticks to allopathic treatments because of their fast effects and cost-effectiveness. With the growth in technology, this form of medical science plays an integral role and contributes to managing and inventing contemporary forms of vaccines and medicines by diagnosing and supervising. These treatments are suitable for emergency conditions such as covid and have limited side effects.

 

VIEWPOINT OF PUBLIC AND MEDIA  

Baba Ramdev has come a long way and has expanded yoga to a global platform, however discouraging another form of medical association is unacceptable and invalid. The Indian medical association sent Baba Ramdev a legal notice asking him to apologize and take his words back, IMA in its statement added that the remarks by Baba Ramdev are a threat to our society and workers as thousands of allopathic doctors are risking their lives protecting the nation from covid.

 

 

Baba Ramdev apologies to Union health minister Harsh Vardhan by responding to his letter by praising the national medical staff for saving lives of crores of people fighting covid in 2020 as well as in 2021. However, even after taking his statement back, he mounted a set of 25 questions for IMA and asked the organization to respond to it. The questions consist of whether allopathy offers permanent treatment for ailments such as hypertension and type -1, type -2 diabetes.

 

INDIAN MEDICAL ASSOCIATION ON THE CONTROVERSY

As reported by the Indian Medical Association’s press release, this is not the first time Baba Ramdev has accused allopathy and other medical specialists. Every form of medical treatment is necessary and should not be defamed and discouraged. Unity is the primitive foundation of our nation amid the covid pandemic. Ayurveda and Allopathy both have played a significant role in treating infected patients and providing long-term relief.

 

As announced by the Indian Medical Association's public statement, this isn't the first run through Baba Ramdev has blamed allopathy and other medically trained professionals.
